Tottenham vs Wolves Match Previews
Spurs are aiming to resuscitate their campaign following two straight defeats heading into their next fixture. First, they lost 1-0 to visiting RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie and after that, they were beaten by Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in Premier League action.
The defeat at Chelsea snapped a run of three consecutive wins in the league. It came after Spurs edged visiting Norwich 2-1 and downed visiting Manchester City 2-0 after which they nailed a win 3-2 at Aston Villa.
OUT TO MAKE AMENDS
Jose Mourinho’s men are bent to make amends as they dropped to sixth spot in the standings with 40 points, tied with seventh-placed Sheffield United, and just a point behind fifth-running Manchester United, whilst fourth-placed Chelsea ae just four points away.
In contrast, Wolves are on a two-win, one-loss run in all competitions heading into Tottenham. Nuno Espirito Santos’ squad ripped Espanyol 4-0 in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-32 tie and then returned to their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 demolition of visiting Norwich City.
Last Friday, Wolves lost at Espanyol 3-2 but reached the Europa league round-of-16 on aggregate 6-3.
The win over Norwich came after two successive scoreless draws to hosts Manchester United and visiting Leicester City. Inside their last five league games, Wolverhampton also won 3-2 at Southampton and lost just once 2-1 to visiting Liverpool.
Wolves are at eighth spot with 39 points, just one point behind Spurs, so gaining the maximum points would enable them to leap-frog Tottenham as the fight for Champions League places rages on.
LAST LEAGUE MEETING
Tottenham beat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux Stadium in their last Premier League duel, but he last time Spurs hosted the Wolves, the latter side prevailed 3-1.
With key players Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and midfielder Moussa Sissoko on the injury list, Mourinho is in a dilemma as to whom he will rely on in their attacks against Wolves.
Diogo Jota, who scored a hat-trick against Espanyol and converted two goals against Norwich, is Mourinho’s another worry as the Portuguese forward continues to deliver the goods for Wolverhampton.

Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction
• Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is already looking forward to next season. The Portuguese may have said this out of sheer frustration as his squad now lost 2 straight games against quality teams in Leipzig and his former club Chelsea. They will look to go back to winnings ways but they have to do that against a very decent team. Spurs are still relying on Lucas Moura to lead the line, while Dele Alli will try to secure back his starting spot after he was benched against Chelsea.
• Wolverhampton’s last 2 games were very impressive and they won both of those games while keeping a clean sheet. Diogo Jota now has 5 goals in his last 2 games alone, and he will try to add another when they face Spurs. Adama Traore has been benched now for Wolves’ last 2 league games, and he will need to impress Nuno Espirito for him to get his starting job back.
• Since the promotion of Wolves in 2018, all of Spurs and Wolves head-to-head matches have produced over 2.5 goals and I’m tipping that the trend will continue.
