Leicester City vs Aston Villa Match Previews

Brendan Rodgers’ squad have posted only one win in their last five games in the Premier League. After they won 4-1 at home over West Ham United, Leicester City had a 2-2 draw also at home against Chelsea and 0-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their latest two matches resulted in losses, 1-0 against visiting Manchester City and then another 1-0 loss at Norwich City.

Still, the Foxes sit at third spot in the table with 50 points, 29 points behind top placers Liverpool and seven points behind third placers Manchester United. Fourth placers Chelsea are five points behind Leicester.

As warm-up, Leicester edged Championship squad Birmingham City to enter the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Aston Villa’s form is not that good either. They are at the back of four straight losses in all competitions which came after winning 2-1 against visiting Leicester City in the Premier League. Two of their last four setbacks were away, 2-1 at AFC Bournemouth and 2-0 at Southampton, both in the English top tier. They also lost 3-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa lost in their most recent fixture to Manchester City 2-1 in the final of the Carabao Cup (League Cup). Villa ousted Leicester City in the semifinal 2-1 to set up the final against City.

Dean Smith’s squad are 19th (second-to-last) in the standings with 25 points and are nervously staring at the possibility of dropping to the Championship.

If fit enough, striker Jamie Vardy is expected to be back for Leicester after being absent from their last two games due to a calf injury.

Leicester City vs Aston Villa Prediction

• Leicester have suffered 2 straight losses in the league, and they will aim for their first win since January 23. The Foxes had a very impressive home record until recently. Out of the 14 home matches they played this season, they lost 3 which all happened in their last 5 home matches. They will hope that Jamie Vardy can recover from an injury.

• Aston Villa is currently on a bad run having lost 4 straight losses that include the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final. If there’s something positive they can take away from that defeat, is now they can solely focus on their campaign in the Premier League. They are currently 2 points off the relegation zone so every match counts moving forward. John McGinn returns to full training this week so that’s a big boost for the Villans.

• Both teams will have motivation to play hard in this match, but Aston Villa will have a little more incentive in this as they playing for their lives here to get out of the relegation zone. I still think Leicester will win this game, but I have Villa covering the +1.5 handicap.
