Dortmund vs Freiburg Match Previews

Lucien Favre’s men will be back at home after nailing a 2-0 win at Werder Bremen the last time out. They played in high level because before that game, Dortmund scored a huge 2-1 victory at home over Paris Saint Germain in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.

Dortmund’s latest win in Bundesliga was their second in a row. They walloped Eintracht Frankfurt at home 4-0 before that. The only blemish in their last five games in the league was a 4-3 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen which was preceded by home wins over Koln 5-1 and Union Berlin 5-0.

After 23 matches, Dortmund have 45 points in the table and are just three points off second-placed RB Leipzig and four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Favre’s side are undefeated in their last three games at home where they have scored a total of 14 goals.

Striker Erling Haland, who scored both goals in their win over PSG, including the 77th-minute winner, now have six goals in Dortmund’s last five matches in the German top-flight. The Norwegian player should be the main worry of Freiburg defenders.

Freiburg lost 2-0 to visiting Fortuna Dusseldorf in their last league game. They only had one victory, 1-0 at home over Hoffenheim in their last five matches which also had a draw and two defeats, one of them away.

Christian Streich’s squad are at present ninth in the standings with 33 points, five points up on 10th-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

Borussia Dortmund clipped Freiburg 2-0 in their last league meeting at Signal Iduna Park, whilst their latest confrontation held at Schwarzwald Stadium resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Dortmund vs Freiburg Prediction

• Still buzzing from their home win against the French giants PSG, Dortmund follow that up with an impressive away win against Werder Bremen. They are still unbeaten when playing at Signal Iduna Park and are just scoring an insane amount of goals — 40 goals in 11 home matches! They are the best Bundesliga team when playing at home, period. Marco Reus is still injured, but Erling Haaland can certainly carry the load.

• Freiburg are pretty decent this season. Last season, they only had 36 points at the end of the tournament. But now, they already have 33 points with about 10 games to go. That being said, they just won 1 game out of their last 5 matches, so form will surely be of concern. However, they are also playing decent football when playing away from home with only 4 losses out of 12 matches this season.

• Seven of Dortmund’s eight Bundesliga home victories were won with at least 2 goals, and I think that will be the same case here vs Freiburg.
